Farm Introduction

According to Hiroki Murakami, who will become the farm's 4th generation master, the family doesn't know exactly when they started farming tea, though his great-grandfather was the one who built their first processing factory in the late 19th century.
\n
Based in the Yoshiwara district, a mountainous region famous for its sea of clouds within the municipality of Shizuoka City, the family produces about 2 tons of tea altogether per year (first and second flushes).
\n
Their leaves are mostly processed as a near-fukamushi (deep steamed), a steaming technique that creates a tea that has fukashimicha's deep, opaque green color and sweetness, but while also retaining much of the leaf's shape.
The saemidori kabusecha (lightly shaded green tea) grown and processed by the Shimizu family of Suizawa, Mie Prefecture. This saemidori kabusecha has many fans for its bright green color and rich flavor.

Pour a little at a time into tasting cups, alternating between cups to even out the flavor (thicker flavor will sit at the bottom of your pot)

Last summer, we were fortunate as we did not experience negative impacts such as intense heat, drought or flood damage. So, we are happy to share that this tea grew on a strong foundation as it went through a peaceful autumn and received plentiful rest throughout the winter months. This past March, we experienced a high rise in temperature as we hastily welcomed spring. Despite the warm weather, there were days with below zero degree (C) temperatures in the mornings which created temperature differences around 20 degrees between morning and afternoons. That being said, we have had excellent conditions with respect to making tea with remarkable flavor. The remaining days until our shincha harvest for this tea will determine whether we will be able to make good and high quality tea. Please look forward to this one, we will not let you down!

A blended fukamushi sencha, this tea is often the most popular tea from Kumamoto Tea Gardens. This is a mellow and rich fukamushicha which blends the fragrant Yabukita cultivar and umami-full Okuyutaka cultivar.

Last summer, we were fortunate as we did not experience negative impacts such as intense heat, drought or flood damage. So, we are happy to share that this tea grew on a strong foundation as it went through a peaceful autumn and received plentiful rest throughout the winter months. This past March, we experienced a high rise in temperature as we hastily welcomed spring. Despite the warm weather, there were days with below zero degree (C) temperatures in the mornings which created temperature differences around 20 degrees between morning and afternoons. That being said, we have had excellent conditions with respect to making tea with remarkable flavor. The remaining days until our shincha harvest for this tea will determine whether we will be able to make good and high quality tea. Please look forward to this one, we will not let you down!

Without using pesticides, small insects called unka populate the field in the early summer and damage the leaves in a way that turns into a delicious flavor when the leaves are withered into oolong tea. The process is similar to that seen in the Taiwanese oolong called Oriental Beauty.

But the as the aftertaste spreads through you mouth, you begin to taste the sweet early summer sun shining brightly. Great for washing down oily meals (like summer BBQs...yum!).

Grown uncovered on west-facing slopes, the leaves take in the strong early summer sun and warm breezes before they are harvested in early July. The soil of the tea fields is composed of granite that has eroded after many millennia.

Sencha of the Summer Sun or 太陽の煎茶（夏） is the companion to Sencha of the Spring Sun, with a bitter taste that is strong at first. But the as the aftertaste spreads through you mouth, you begin to taste the sweet early summer sun shining brightly. Great for washing down oily meals (like summer BBQs...yum!).

Grown uncovered on west-facing slopes, the leaves take in the strong early summer sun and warm breezes before they are harvested in early July. The soil of the tea fields is composed of granite that has eroded after many millennia.
