Inspired by Nutella, the popular chocolate-hazelnut spread loved around the world, this spread called Matchatella perfectly blends the nutty aroma and sweetness of cashew nuts with the subtle bitterness of matcha, creating a delightful fusion of traditional and modern flavors. You only need three ingredients: matcha, cashew nuts, and agave syrup(or some sweetener).

With its rich, creamy taste and deep flavor, just one bite can lift your spirits—making it the perfect energy booster as well.

This matcha spread is not only great on toast or pancakes, but also dangerously delicious straight from the jar—you might not be able to stop!

 

Matchatella Recipe

Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1cup (200ml) cashew nuts (low or roasted) 
  • 1tsp matcha
  • 2tbsp agave syrup (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F). Spread the cashew nuts on a baking tray and roast them for 8 minutes.
  2. Transfer the nuts to a food processor and blend for 5-7 minutes, until the mixture becomes creamy. It will start off dry and crumbly, but as the nuts release their oils, the texture will turn smooth.
  3. Sift the matcha into the food processor, using a tea strainer. Add the agave syrup, then blend again until fully combined.



Notes: For a smoother texture, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of plant-based oil along with the syrup. Taste and adjust the amount of syrup, if needed.
